An-Najah Organizes the 2nd Palestinian International Graduate Conference on Natural, Medical and Health Sciences and Humanities
On Thursday, April 20th, 2017, and under the patronage of the Prime Minister, Professor Rami Hamdallah, An-Najah’s Faculty of Graduate Studies organized the 2nd Palestinian International Graduate Conference on Natural, Medical and Health Sciences and Humanities (SPIGCNMHSH 2017) at the Prince Turkey Ben Abdul Aziz Theatre in the New Campus.
Dr. Mohammad Ishtayeh, Dean of the Faculty of Graduate Studies said that the conference aims at encouraging scientific research through publishing research papers by prominent international journals.
Dr. Ishtayeh also briefed the attendees on the faculty’s history which started in 1995 and its research production in cooperation with national and international universities. He added that the faculty students submitted 160 proposals out of 167.
Professor Maher Natsheh, Acting President of An-Najah said that the university offers 57 graduate programmes and two PhD programmes in physics and chemistry in cooperation with Lancaster University. He also talked about the other programmes An-Najah offers in cooperation with other Palestinian and international universities including the University of Naples and Al-Quds University.
In turn, Dr. Sabri Saydam, Minister of Education and Higher Education and representative of the Prime Minister stressed the importance of graduate studies and talked about the ministry’s efforts to support graduate studies in Palestine.
He also talked about the ministry’s achievements in different fields on the Arab and international levels.
He then transferred Prof. Hamdallah’s greetings to the conference organizers and sponsors.
The conference resulted in a number of recommendations; namely, reinforcing research cooperation among Palestinian universities through supervising MA and PhD theses, offering a data base for researchers and encouraging publishing research papers by distinguished journals. The conference representatives also agreed upon holding the conference biannually.

The conference was also attended by Dr. Azmi Alawneh, Director of Education in Nablus as well as a group of experts and graduate students.
