The Faculty of Science and the Deanship of Student Affairs at An-Najah National University wrapped up the “First Chemical Hackathon” organized by the An-Najah Chemistry Society on Thursday, December 18, 2025. The event, held in the Faculty of Science laboratories on the new campus, saw the participation of dozens of students and specialized judging committees composed of academic and administrative staff, as well as lab supervisors.

The hackathon was organized as part of the University’s vision to achieve the Sustainable Development Goals, particularly quality education, by promoting applied learning, linking academic knowledge to practical experience, and developing students’ creative and research skills.

The inauguration was attended by deans, department heads, student affairs directors, faculty and administrative staff, lab supervisors, and student leaders, alongside participating students.

The hackathon highlighted the importance of fostering positive changes within the academic environment, encouraging student engagement, creativity, and out-of-the-box thinking. It emphasized combining curricular and extracurricular activities to develop practical skills and prepare students for the job market. The event also focused on transforming academic knowledge into hands-on scientific experiences, including the establishment of educational training facilities, allowing students to gain real-world experience and enhance their confidence. Support from faculty, staff, student associations, and the university administration was recognized as a key factor in the initiative’s success.

At the end of the hackathon, the winning teams were honored, and certificates were awarded to participants and volunteers.
