Amira Yasser Mohammed Amira, a student specializing in Business Intelligence at the Faculty of Business and Communication at An-Najah National University, recently achieved a new athletic milestone in his traditional karate career by winning the gold medal in the 5th Asian Traditional Karate Championship, Kumite category.

The Jerusalemite student triumphed in four consecutive Kumite rounds, defeating opponents from Uzbekistan, Turkmenistan, Armenia, and Dagestan, securing first place in Asia in his category.

This victory qualifies him to officially participate in the 2026 World Cup, which will be held in the Arab Republic of Egypt.

This win continues Amira’s record of achievements, who previously secured third place globally at the 2023 World Cup in Uzbekistan. He has also participated extensively in international training camps and tournaments in several countries, including Slovenia, Egypt, and Uzbekistan.

Amira’s success coincided with another family achievement, as his brother, Mohammad Amira, won the gold medal in the 22–26 age category at the same championship. This marked his fifth consecutive gold medal in Asian tournaments. Mohammad had previously been crowned three-time World Champion, first winning the title at the World Championship held in Egypt in 2016.

The two brothers continue the legacy of their father, Sensei Yasser Amira, Palestine’s traditional karate champion, who guides his sons with expertise and a clear vision toward the podium. The Palestinian Karate Federation expressed its gratitude to Sensei Amira for his contributions in preparing athletes who serve as an inspiring model for Palestinian sports.

This victory confirms the ability of students from the Faculty of Business and Communication to excel in various fields, not only academically but also athletically, elevating the name of Palestine and An-Najah University in international arenas.
