An-Najah University Concludes Entrepreneurial Challenge Sports Tournament with Wide Participation
The Deanship of Student Affairs and the Faculty of Information Technology and Artificial Intelligence, in cooperation with the Physical Education Division at An-Najah National University, concluded the Entrepreneurial Challenge Sports Tournament on Thursday, May 15, 2025. The initiative reflects the University’s commitment to advancing the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), including quality education, good health and well-being, sustainable cities and communities, and partnerships for the goals.
The tournament opened in the Indoor Sports Hall at the New Campus with the presence of Mr. Iyad Al-Aqra, Director of Student Affairs; Dr. Rawand Al-Qutob, Head of the Physical Education Division; Dr. Dr. Sulaiman Amad, Sports Facilities Coordinator; Ms. Ruba Awais, Advisor of the Community of Entrepreneurs; Mr. Anan Al-Nasser, Student Associations Coordinator; student Ammar Ishtayeh, President of the Community of Entrepreneurs; student Sama Al-Hajja; and student Wasim Quneir from the organizing committee, alongside faculty, administrative staff, representatives of participating academies, and a large audience of students and enthusiasts.
Participating teams represented several sports academies, including Al-Wehdat Academy, Sport Village Academy, Al-Laith Academy, Al-Aws Academy, Qusin Cubs Academy, Pele German Academy, Al-Ain Camp Academy, and Super Sport Academy.
In his opening remarks, Dr. Al-Amad underscored the importance of purposeful sporting activities, particularly on a day when Palestinians commemorate the Nakba, emphasizing the people’s aspiration for freedom, resilience, and community building through sports. He praised the efforts of the Community of Entrepreneurs, the Deanship of Student Affairs, the Physical Education Division, and the University administration for creating this platform for young athletes.
Ms. Awais commended the outstanding organization of the event and the strong support from the Deanship of Student Affairs, acknowledging the contributions of the Sports Science Department, the University administration, and sponsoring companies. Mr. Al-Aqra reaffirmed the University’s support for student-led initiatives that align with its social responsibility, stressing the role of such events in developing students’ talents, enhancing their communication skills, and fostering a spirit of healthy competition.
Student Sama Al-Hajja highlighted that the tournament integrates entrepreneurial spirit with sports in a creative and competitive format, designed to provide real opportunities for students with startup projects. Student Ammar Ishtayeh explained that the tournament was structured as a competitive league among academies and sports clubs established or managed by students in the Physical Education Division, aiming to showcase student entrepreneurial projects, strengthen ties between sports and entrepreneurship, and encourage innovation.
At the close of the tournament, referees Ahmad Dhuqan and Mahmoud Al-Salem were honored, and awards were presented to the winning teams. Al-Wehdat Academy claimed first place, Sport Village Academy took second, and Pele Academy secured third. Individual awards were also presented: Adam Daghlas (Al-Laith Academy) was named Top Scorer, Ibrahim Shaheen (Al-Wehdat Academy) received Best Goalkeeper, Abed Dar Ali (Al-Wehdat Academy) was recognized as Best Player, and Faiz Alawi (Pele Academy) won Best Defender.
The Entrepreneurial Challenge Sports Tournament demonstrated An-Najah’s unique approach to blending athletic competition with entrepreneurial vision, reinforcing its role as an incubator of creativity and a leader in linking education, innovation, and community development.
