An-Najah and the Ministry of Higher Education Lead Workshop on Human Rights and Gender Equality

On Wednesday, December 4, 2024, An-Najah National University’s Dean of Student Affairs, in partnership with the Guidance and Counseling Unit and the Student Affairs Department at the Ministry of Education, Higher Education, and Scientific Research, organized a workshop titled ‘Promoting the Culture of Human Rights and Gender Equality.’ This workshop is part of the second phase of the ‘Hope’ project, which will continue throughout the 2024-2025 academic year. The initiative reflects the university's steadfast commitment to achieving the Sustainable Development Goals, with a particular focus on fostering strategic partnerships and advancing gender equality.
The workshop, held in the Conference Hall and the Training Hall at the new campus library, was inaugurated by the following attendees: Mr. Ayman Al-Houdali, Head of the Guidance, Counseling, and Student Affairs Unit at the Ministry of Education; Mr. Iyad Al-Aqra, Director of Student Affairs at the University; Mr. Bilal Ashqar, Workshop Trainer; Mr. Muhannad Al-Masri, Head of the Activities Department at the Ministry; and Ms. Samar Mohsen, Coordinator of Cultural Activities at the Deanship of Student Affairs. The event was also attended by a group of students enrolled in the training.
At the start of the event, Mr. Al-Aqra welcomed the attendees, highlighting the university's focus on extracurricular activities to enhance students' skills and personal development. He also commended the Ministry of Education and Higher Education for its continuous efforts in providing opportunities to develop students' capabilities across various fields.
Mr. Al-Houdali stated that, in the first phase of the project funded by the Italian Agency for Development Cooperation, the Ministry of Education will organize 15 training workshops across Palestinian universities, with 40 students per workshop, focusing on gender issues and human rights.
He emphasized that the workshop and project are designed to raise awareness of gender roles and their influence on daily life, personal choices, and social interactions. The initiative aims to cultivate values of equality, mutual respect, and cooperation, while empowering students and encouraging teamwork. It also focuses on enhancing economic opportunities and improving employment prospects for students, with a strong commitment to gender equality.
