On June 3, 2024, the Medenshine student team, part of the Medical Education Department and Deanship of Student Affairs at An-Najah National University, organized a scientific medical debate as part of its Speciality Medway series. Held in the Faculty of Law auditorium at the New Campus, the event aimed to promote quality education, good health, and sustainable partnerships, aligning with the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).


The debate featured leading medical professionals, including Dr. Souad Belkebir, Director of the Medical Education Department; Dr. Fares Abu Shamma, a urology and kidney surgery specialist; and Dr. Mohannad Hassan, a nephrologist and hypertension specialist from An-Najah University Hospital. The event was attended by Mr. Iyad Al-Aqra, Director of Student Affairs, along with a large audience of medical students.

Dr. Belkebir praised the collaboration between students, faculty, and the university, emphasizing the importance of teamwork, resilience, and skill-building. Dr. Abu Shamma shared his journey from studying at An-Najah to gaining international experience and returning to serve at the university hospital. He stressed the value of continuous learning and practical training. Similarly, Dr. Hassan reflected on his academic and professional growth, emphasizing the need for ongoing professional development in medical fields.

The debate, moderated by student Saeed Bakir, explored the professional paths of the two specialists, providing insight into their experiences. Mr. Al-Aqra highlighted the role of student-led activities in personal growth, noting the university’s commitment to offering platforms that foster creativity and confidence.

Yasmin Saadeh introduced the Medenshine team and explained the mission behind the Speciality Medway series, which bridges academia and practice. Sadeel Sawan and Qasem Salah also presented a segment on challenges in the healthcare sector, featuring Azzedine Lulu, a medical student from the Islamic University, who shared his experiences working under difficult conditions at Al-Shifa Medical Complex in Gaza.

The event began with a Quran recitation by student Mohammad Shantour and concluded with a discussion session, fostering interaction between students and speakers and enriching the overall experience.
