An-Najah National University stands as the sole Palestinian institution listed in the Times Higher Education World University Rankings for Asia, published by the British Times Higher Education Foundation. An-Najah achieved all the required criteria for success.


The 2024 Times Higher Education Asia University Rankings encompass a thorough assessment of active universities in research focusing on five fundamental aspects: teaching quality, research environment, research quality, international reputation, and industry engagement.

Prof. Abdel Naser Zaid, the university’s president, expressed his pride in this accomplishment, emphasizing that the university continues to excel in diversified international rankings. He stated that the university operates within an academic and research strategy that aligns with international standards, thus enhancing An-Najah National University’s role as a pioneering institution in higher education and scientific research.

The Times Higher Education Asia University Rankings utilize 18 performance indicators associated with teaching, scientific research, knowledge dissemination, and international feedback. These indicators assess five primary domains: 

  1. Teaching (Learning Environment): 24.5%

  2. Research Environment (Research Output or Productivity, Research Funding, Reputation): 28%

  3. Citations (Research Impact): 30%

  4. International Reputation (International Students, International Faculty, Global Collaboration): 7.5%

  5. Industry Application (Knowledge Transfer): 10%.

It is worth mentioning that specific criteria determines universities to be included in this ranking. For instance, a university must have published more than 1000 research papers over the last five years, with at least 150 papers annually.

In essence, the inclusion of An-Najah National University in the Times Higher Education Asia Rankings underscores its commitment to academic excellence and its significant contribution to the global academic landscape.
