The UI GreenMetric World University Ranking is an initiative of Universitas Indonesia which is being launched in 2010. The aim of this ranking is to provide the result of online survey regarding the current condition and policies related to Green Campus and Sustainability in the Universities all over the world. Furthermore, through this ranking more attention will be given to combating global climate change, energy and water conservation, waste recycling, and green transportation.

The ranking's criteria indicators include 39 ones and 6 criteria i.e. Setting and Infrastructure (SI), Energy and Climate Change (EC), Waste (WS), Water (WR), Transportation (TR), and Education (ED).

Prof. Abdel Naser Zaid, University President stated that this successful outcome was as a result of the University's commitment towards environmental conservation and preservation through various teaching, research and co-curricular activities as well as quality management system based on effective environmental management.
