An-Najah Federation of Medical Students Association Excels at the 71st IFMSA August Meeting General Assembly
The Palestinian delegation representing An-Najah Federation of Medical Students Association, attained distinguished achievements at the 71st IFMSA August Meeting General Assembly that was held in Istanbul, Turkey and took place from 1st to 7th of August, 2022.
The delegation included 5 students out of 7 from An-Najah National University; namely, Yazan Dumaidi, Ahmed Rajoub, Ibrahim Azizi, Ola Abdel Salam and Ibrahim Al-Ali.
In a historical precedent, student Yazan Dumaidi was elected to be the International Coordinator of the Student Exchange Program at IFMSA which makes him the first Palestinian student to administer this exchange program at the international level.
Also, the Palestinian delegation was voted by the Student Exchange Exhibition's Arbitrators as the best student exchange program out of 68 international programs.
IFMSA is the largest international medical student advocacy organization worldwide. Its primary goal is to unite medical students from all over the world regardless of economic, socio-political, racial factors and beliefs. Its activities are divided into six Standing Committees: Sexual and Reproductive Health and Rights Including HIV & AIDS, Public Health, Human Rights & Peace, Medical Education, Clinical Exchanges and Research Exchanges.
Two IFMSA General Assemblies are held each year, one in March and one in August. More specifically, these meetings consist of individual parts such as plenary sessions, training sessions, thematic events and presentation of innovative programs carried out by medical student organizations of other countries.
Student Dumaidi was elected to be the International Coordinator of the Student Exchange Committee and program during the elections that were held at the 71st IFMSA August Meeting General Assembly. The assembly was attended by around 1200 medical students from 100+ countries.
Al-Dumaidi joined the Faculty of Medicine and Health Sciences at An-Najah University in 2017, and joined An-Najah Federation of Medical Students Association as a general member. Then, he became the student exchange committee official at An-Najah University, and was chosen to become the student exchange committee official at the Palestinian universities. After that, he became the Student Exchange Committee’s regional assistant in the Eastern Mediterranean and North Africa. Finally, he became the International Coordinator of the Student Exchange Program at IFMSA.
