Recent data released by Clarivate – Web of Science, through the InCites research analytics platform—used by the prestigious Shanghai Global Ranking—reveal that An-Najah National University has achieved outstanding performance in research citation impact across several key disciplinary categories, exceeding the global average in multiple fields.

Research performance was assessed using the Category Normalized Citation Impact (CNCI) indicator, which measures the number of citations received by a university’s research output relative to the global average within the same discipline. A CNCI value above 1 indicates citation impact above the world average.

According to the latest analysis, the Clinical, Pre-Clinical & Health Sciences category ranked first at the University, achieving a CNCI value of 2.53, meaning that research in this field is cited at more than two and a half times the global average for the same discipline.

The Social Sciences category followed with a CNCI value of 1.61, while Arts & Humanities recorded 1.58, and Physical Sciences achieved 1.54. All of these values significantly exceed the global benchmark of 1, reflecting the strong impact, quality, and international visibility of the University’s research in these fields.

In addition, Life Sciences recorded a CNCI value of 1.01, slightly above the global average, while Engineering & Technology achieved 0.98, indicating strong competitiveness and close alignment with international research standards in this strategically important sector.

These results demonstrate that a substantial portion of the University’s research output not only appears in journals indexed in Web of Science, but also achieves citation impact above the global average across multiple knowledge domains—particularly in health sciences, social sciences, humanities, and physical sciences.

This achievement reflects An-Najah University’s strategic approach to advancing research excellence, including sustained support for researchers, encouragement of publication in high-impact and reputable journals, strengthening international and interdisciplinary research collaboration, investment in research infrastructure and global databases, and the systematic use of advanced research performance analysis tools such as InCites.

An-Najah University reaffirms its continued commitment to developing its research ecosystem and enhancing the global impact of its scientific output, thereby strengthening its position in international rankings and contributing to sustainable development priorities in Palestine and the wider region.
