An-Najah University and Its Teaching Hospital Publish Research on Radial Artery Closure

A research team from An-Najah National University’s Faculty of Nursing and An-Najah National University Hospital has published a study in the Journal of Interventional Cardiology (impact factor 1.63, Q2, Wiley-Blackwell Publishing Ltd) on enhancing radial artery closure after diagnostic and interventional cardiac catheterization.
The team includes Dr. Yunis Daralammouri, Dr. Murad Azamtta, Dr. Aidah Alkaissi, Prof. Fateh Awad, and students Ali Saleem, Ghaith Zakaria, Basil Masmar, and Yahya Musleh. Their study, title: “Comparison of Radial Artery Hemostasis Outcomes After Coronary Angiography and Intervention Using a Compression Dressing Versus an Air-inflated Hemostatic Wristband,” highlights the effectiveness of flexible compression bandages as a safe and cost-effective alternative to TR bands in achieving radial hemostasis post-procedure.
The findings show that elastic compression dressings reduce hemostasis time, enhance patient comfort, and lower the risk of hematoma formation, while maintaining radial artery patency at discharge.
This achievement reinforces the University and its teaching hospital’s role in advancing medical research and strengthening their global academic presence.
