Dr. Loay Abu Al-Saud of An-Najah National University Co-Authors Research on the Destruction of Palestinian Cultural Heritage in Gaza
Dr. Loay Abu Al-Saud from An-Najah National University, in collaboration with Prof. Salah Al-Houdalieh from Al-Quds University and Dr. Ayman Warasneh from Al-Istiqlal University, has co-authored a research paper titled "The Tools of War: Conflict and the Devastation of Palestinian Cultural Heritage in the Gaza Strip."
The study was published in The Palgrave Encyclopedia of Cultural Heritage and Conflict by Springer, one of the world’s most renowned academic publishers. It provides a comprehensive analysis of the large-scale destruction inflicted upon dozens of archaeological sites in Gaza during the first 170 days of continuous bombardment. The research highlights the catastrophic damage to Palestinian cultural heritage and sheds light on the profound threats posed to its preservation.
The paper underscores the lack of effective intervention by international organizations, particularly UNESCO, to safeguard Gaza’s cultural and historical landmarks. It also examines the ongoing challenges resulting from targeted attacks, which continue to jeopardize the region’s cultural legacy and historical identity.
This publication reflects An-Najah National University’s unwavering commitment to advancing academic research and strengthening collaboration with local and international institutions. It reaffirms the university’s dedication to addressing national and humanitarian issues through rigorous scientific inquiry aimed at raising awareness and advocating for the protection of Palestinian cultural heritage.
