A research team from An-Najah National University’s Faculty of Educational Sciences and Teacher Training published a book about e-learning titled “Challenges and Opportunities for the Global Implementation of E-Learning Frameworks” in IGI Global: International Academic Publisher.

A chapter in the book talks about advantages and disadvantages of online learning in the time of COVID-19. It exhibits the Palestinian experience with the e-learning in terms of its challenges, opportunities, pros and cons. It focuses on An-Najah’s experience with managing the online learning in light of the crisis in respect of teaching, assessment, training faculty, designing and producing educational materials, exchanging and sharing experiences and best practices for virtual learning, and developing new ways to enhance the learning process in online education.

The significance of this book lies in that it includes success stories and international experiences of e-learning in several universities, is available in universities’ libraries, and is considered a reference for e-learning researchers.

In collaboration with Prof. Badrul Huda Khan, a world-renowned speaker, author, educator, and consultant in the field of e-learning and educational technology, the book was produced by a research team consisting of Dr. Saida Affouneh, Deputy president for digitalization and eLearning and Dean of the faculty of Educational Sciences at the University; Dr. Soheil Salha, Head of Teaching Methods Department; and Mr. Zuheir Khlaif, lecturer at the University’s Faculty of Educational Sciences and Teacher Training.

This came after Prof. Khan’s visit to An-Najah in 2019, as he shared his rich experience with An-Najah and discussed new promising areas of collaboration with the E-learning Center. The book came as a contribution from the University to spread a culture of e-learning based on the experiences of the University's e-learning experts.

It took the research team a whole year to produce this pioneering work. Researchers from different countries were invited to submit their research proposals. Out of 35 chapter plans from different countries, 17 were accepted to cover all aspects of contemporary e-learning as well as that used during COVID-19 in Palestine and the participating countries.

The book is available with both hard and soft copies on Amazon.com.
