An-Najah Researchers Achieve Progress in Distinguished Research Awards by the Palestinian Islamic Bank

On Tuesday, November 8th, 2016, the Palestinian Polytechnic University in Hebron celebrated the winners of the Palestinian Islamic Bank Awards for Scientific Research.
The event was organized by the Palestinian Polytechnic University and sponsored by the Palestinian Islamic Bank.
Researchers were recognized in five categories, two of which were open to researchers at all Palestinian universities while three where limited to researchers from the Palestinian Polytechnic University.
This year, An-Najah National University researchers obtained awards in the first national category.
Both Dr. Hikmat Hilal and Dr. Ahed Zyoud, Lecturers at the Chemistry Department were ranked first place while Dr. Tamer Al-Khatib from the Energy and Environmental Engineering Department was ranked second in qualitative excellence in scientific research category.
Dr. Hilal's and Dr. Zyoud’s research used polymer layers to increase the accuracy of solar cells to 15%, a level higher than previous published work.
Dr. Khatib proposed a new model for human nerves system that improves, upon previous models, the accuracy in predicting the average amount of the solar irradiance hourly everyday from 76% to 88%.
