About ASCE

The American Society of Civil Engineers represents more than 150,000 members of the civil engineering profession in 177 countries. Founded in 1852, ASCE is the nation’s oldest engineering society. 

Through the expertise of its active membership, ASCE is a leading provider of technical and professional conferences and continuing education, the world’s largest publisher of civil engineering content and an authoritative source for codes and standards that protect the public.

An-Najah’s ASCE started in 2013 and obtained recognition in 2015.

Activities

An-Najah’s ASCE has organized several activities in the past years including seminars, exhibitions, lectures and workshops on different topics.

The society also organizes competitions, community service projects and field trips and offers student training programmes.

Facts and Figures

The society activities started on September, 2016 where more than 50 ones were carried out including exhibitions, student lectures and seminars in which experts and teachers were hosted from inside and outside the university.

In addition, the society held the 1^st National Bridge ‎Competition which aims at employing what students learn in theory and applying it practically with wooden bridge models. The competition included 130 students who represented 25 teams from 4 Palestinian universities.

The student branch also participated in the Bridge Building Competition held at the University of Jordan through which the students took third place.

Moreover, the society held a community service activity to maintain Nablus streets where a large group of An-Najah volunteers participated.

On this occasion, Dr. Khaled Al-Sahli, Dean of the Faculty of Engineering and IT congratulated the society and thanked An-Najah administration for offering the students the needed support.
