Be Smart about Storage
- Store personal care products and household products in their original, labeled containers
- Read the labels on the chemical and products bottles and follow directions carefully.
- Do not store chemicals in empty food or drink containers.
- Store poisonous products away from food so there is no confusion.
- Do not mix household products together (i.e., Ammonia with bleaches)
- Install carbon monoxide (CO) detectors near bedrooms and on each floor of your home.
- Do not store any household materials such as detergents, dish washing soap and furniture polish powders underneath the kitchen sink.
- Do not store materials such as kerosene, car fuels and detergents in packages such as bottles of liquor, jug or anything that draws the child's attention.
- Place the Poison Unit telephone number, 1-800-500-000, on or near your phone so it is easy to find in an emergency.
