As part of its ongoing efforts to promote a culture of safety and institutional preparedness, An-Najah National University organized a training workshop titled “Proper Response in Case of Emergencies – Higher Readiness, Lower Risks” on Tuesday, 17 March 2026. The workshop was held at Zafer Al-Masri Auditorium on the Old Campus.


The workshop was organized in collaboration between the Scientific Centers, the Sustainable Development Office, and the Human Resources Department, with the participation of staff members and individuals interested in safety and risk management.

The session aimed to enhance employees’ awareness of how to respond effectively to emergencies and potential workplace risks, while strengthening their readiness to take appropriate actions that ensure personal safety and operational continuity under various circumstances.

The workshop featured a range of theoretical and practical sessions delivered by Prof. Jalal Dabbeek, Director of the Urban Planning and Disaster Risk Reduction Center. He addressed key concepts in risk reduction, methods for identifying workplace hazards, and preventive and preparedness measures to minimize human losses during emergencies, in addition to introducing safe rooms and shelters.

Dr. Jamal Dabbeek, Coordinator of the Earth Sciences and Seismic Engineering Unit, also delivered a presentation on the role of modern technologies and systems in supporting emergency and risk management, and enhancing effective crisis response.

In this context, Dr. Luay Abu Reidah, Coordinator of the Sustainable Development Office, emphasized that organizing this workshop aligns with the University’s vision of promoting institutional sustainability and fostering a safe working environment through the continuous development of administrative and academic staff capacities.

For her part, Ms. Ola Al-Ramhi highlighted the Human Resources Department’s commitment to implementing high-quality training programs that help build a preventive culture among employees and enhance their professional readiness to face various challenges.

The workshop concluded with a discussion session and a set of recommendations aimed at strengthening knowledge exchange and further improving preventive measures within the University, ultimately contributing to higher levels of safety and sustainability.
