An-Najah Promotes Energy Efficiency through Specialized Training Program
As part of its ongoing commitment to advancing environmental sustainability and improving resource efficiency across campus, An-Najah National University organized a specialized training program titled “Energy Conservation and Efficiency and Their Role in Achieving Environmental Sustainability.” The program was delivered by the Sustainable Development Office in collaboration with the Human Resources Department.
The training was led by Dr. Aysar Yaseen from the Faculty of Engineering – Department of Energy Engineering. It focused on key concepts related to energy efficiency and the importance of reducing energy consumption in educational institutions, with particular emphasis on the environmental, economic, and administrative dimensions of energy management.
Dr. Yaseen presented a range of practical examples and case studies from both local and international contexts, highlighting how academic institutions can play an active role in reducing energy consumption and carbon emissions. He discussed strategies such as improving the efficiency of lighting and HVAC systems, adopting building energy management systems, promoting responsible energy-use behaviors among staff, and investing in renewable energy solutions—particularly solar energy.
The program also emphasized the importance of institutional integration between administrative and technical units to ensure a measurable and sustainable impact in energy management, in line with international sustainability standards and global environmental rankings.
The session witnessed strong participation from academic and administrative staff, particularly those working in logistics, services, security, and other administrative units. The importance of their role in implementing energy efficiency practices on the ground was highlighted throughout the training.
This program is part of a broader strategic plan led by the Sustainable Development Office to integrate sustainability standards into the University’s operational and administrative processes, and to enhance institutional awareness of the transition toward a more efficient and sustainable campus model—aligned with An-Najah’s vision of community and environmental leadership.
The University reaffirms its commitment to continuing training and awareness programs aimed at building staff capacity in sustainability, recognizing them as key partners in achieving meaningful environmental transformation.
