An-Najah University Participates in Training Sessions in Cooperation with the Agence Universitaire de la Francophonie
A team from An-Najah National University participated in training sessions organized by the Agence Universitaire de la Francophonie (AUF) in Beirut, Lebanon, for the launch of the “Supporting AI Integration in Higher Education in the Middle East” project. The event brought together 140 professors and researchers from 13 universities across Palestine, Egypt, and Lebanon.
The sessions began with an official opening, featuring a speech by Mr. Jean-Noël Baleo, Regional Director of the AUF in the Middle East, who highlighted the strategic importance of the project and the need for higher education institutions to keep pace with technological advancements, emphasizing the ethical and responsible use of AI in academia. A representative from the French Embassy in Lebanon, the project’s funder, praised the regional collaboration between universities and stressed the importance of training universities to harness future tools for education and innovation.
Dr. Kherieh Rassas, Vice President of An-Najah University for Global Partnerships and Initiatives, noted that the university’s participation reinforces and culminates its international alliances, highlighting its leadership at local, regional, and global levels.
The university’s participation in this regional initiative highlights its commitment to leading digital transformation in higher education. The project focuses on the ethical integration of AI in teaching and research, developing faculty skills in designing AI-enhanced courses, exploring AI applications in education and research, and fostering collaboration with partner universities to promote innovative teaching practices and equip students with future-ready skills.
Following the official opening, the university delegation participated in technical workshops focused on deploying the AI-enhanced e-course (SPOC AI) and training for "Expert Mentors" on digital facilitation and best teaching practices. The university’s participation underscores its active role in the regional academic landscape, commitment to international collaboration, and continuous efforts to develop staff competencies in line with global trends.
