An-Najah University’s Deanship of Scientific Research, in cooperation with the Deanship of Graduate Studies, launched the “Research Hackathon” lecture series for graduate students on Sunday, November 30, 2025. The first lecture, titled “Types of Literature Reviews in Scientific Research” was delivered by Prof. Waleed Sweileh, Dean of Scientific Research.
The lecture was attended by over 66 graduate students, who learned about key types of scientific research, distinctions between primary and secondary research, and the main patterns of literature reviews, including narrative, systematic, exploratory, and bibliometric reviews, as well as their importance in developing solid research projects across disciplines.
The Research Hackathon aims to enhance students’ skills in designing studies and selecting the most suitable literature review type for their research topics, ultimately producing high-quality scientific outputs that contribute to advancing research at the university.
At the conclusion of the lecture, Dr. Mustafa Ghanim, Dean of Graduate Studies, outlined the deanship’s policy and its focus on promoting distinguished scientific publications based on master’s and PhD theses, emphasizing the importance of continuing introductory lectures to build graduate students’ capabilities in writing scientific review articles.
