The Language Resource Center (LRC) at An-Najah National University, in collaboration with the KOICA Alumni Association in Palestine (KAAP) and with support from the Korea International Cooperation Agency (KOICA), organized the Korean Culture Day on Monday, August 18, 2025, at An-Najah Innovation Park. The event was held in the presence of Mr. Young Kol Jo, Representative of the Republic of Korea to Palestine, along with his accompanying delegation, and representatives from KOICA and KAAP.


The visit began at the Old Campus with a courtesy meeting with Dr. Abdulsalam Khayyat, Vice President for Academic Affairs, who welcomed Mr. Young Kol Jo, his advisor Mr. Ji Hwan, and his assistant Ms. Julie Hashweh. The meeting focused on the strong and long-standing relationship between the two countries, as well as between An-Najah National University and various Korean institutions. Discussions explored potential avenues for enhancing academic and cultural cooperation.

Also attending the meeting from the university were Dr. Nabil Massad, Dean of the Faculty of Dentistry and Dental Surgery; Dr. Fadi Hassouneh, Dean of the Faculty of Graduate Studies; Ms. Louha Samaaneh, Director of the Language Resource Center; Ms. Summer Abu Mughli from the Partnerships and Global Initiatives Office; and Mr. Mohammad Siam from the LRC.

Dr. Khayyat emphasized the importance of strengthening academic and research partnerships with Korean universities, particularly in the fields of dentistry, artificial intelligence, and information technology, highlighting the university’s leading position in these areas.

In his remarks, the Korean Representative praised An-Najah National University, its academic reputation, its wide range of faculties, and its large student body. He reaffirmed the Korean Embassy's commitment to supporting and enhancing academic and cultural cooperation between An-Najah and Korean institutions. As part of the visit, he donated 100 Korean literature books translated into Arabic to the university library, further enriching cultural and intellectual exchange between both sides.

The delegation concluded its visit with a tour of the New Campus’ facilities. Ms. Samaaneh, noted that the event reflects the university’s vision and commitment to promoting international cooperation and raising awareness about the importance of learning foreign languages as a bridge between cultures.

The event featured a variety of interactive stations introducing Korean language and culture, including Korean calligraphy, drawing, traditional games, popular foods, karaoke, and a virtual reality experience.
