An-Najah’s Academic and Professional Development Center Presents Research on Debate as a Tool for Resilience at the 2nd International Conference on Debate and Dialogue in Doha

The Academic and Professional Development Center (APDC) at An-Najah National University participated in the 2nd International Conference on Debate and Dialogue, held in Doha, Qatar, with the presentation of a research paper titled: "Resilience Through Debate: Exploring Empowerment and Resilience Among Female Students in Higher Education."
The study was conducted by a research team comprising Dr. Maysa Abuzant from the Language Center, Dr. Abdalkarim Zawawi from the Department of English Language and Literature, and Mrs. Alia Gilbrecht-Hindi from the APDC. The paper explores how participation in debate activities contributes to enhancing resilience and empowerment among female students in higher education. It highlights how debate fosters students’ expressive abilities, boosts their engagement, and supports inclusive educational practices—particularly in the face of challenging learning environments.
Dr. Zawawi presented the paper during a thematic session titled “Argumentative Practices: Building Resilience, Empowerment, and Inclusive Dialogue,” which focused on the long-term impact of establishing the first competitive debate team and university-level training platform in Palestine.
This participation reflects An-Najah University’s ongoing efforts to strengthen its international presence and showcases its commitment to academic excellence, innovation, and inclusive education. The study also affirms the University’s dedication to advancing research and equipping its scholars with the tools needed to engage meaningfully in both academic and global conversations.
