An-Najah University a Key Partner in Launching PhDGov Project Activities Funded by Erasmus+

An-Najah National University played a key role in launching capacity-building activities for the PhDGov project, funded by the EU’s Erasmus+ program. The project aims to enhance governance of PhD programs in Palestinian higher education institutions.
The first online training sessions saw active participation from the Palestinian Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research, the Accreditation and Quality Assurance Commission (AQAC), and universities including An-Najah University, Al-Quds University, Arab American University, and Palestine Technical University - Kadoorie. European partners included Vrije Universiteit Brussel (VUB), the Royal Institute of Technology in Sweden (KTH), and RWTH Aachen University in Germany.
Dr. Amjad Barham, Minister of Higher Education, opened the sessions, highlighting the project’s role in developing higher education and graduate studies policies.
Held on May 26–27, 2025, the sessions featured expert-led presentations on supervisor capacity-building, governance frameworks, and improving academic supervision, adapting European best practices to the Palestinian context.
An-Najah reaffirmed its leadership in advancing doctoral programs and promoting international cooperation to foster a globally competitive academic environment.
Activities will continue in June 2025 with further online sessions led by European partners and advanced training modules via the CANVAS platform.
This initiative supports An-Najah’s vision of academic excellence and strong local and international partnerships.
