An-Najah University Enhances Its International Presence through Participation in the SRIAATU 2025 Conference in China

As part of its ongoing efforts to strengthen international academic cooperation and expand its network of strategic partnerships, An-Najah National University participated in the 2025 Conference and Forum of the Silk Road International Alliance of Architectural and Technological Universities (SRIAATU). The event was hosted by Xi’an University of Architecture and Technology (XAUAT) in Xi’an, China, from May 13 to 16, 2025.
Representing the university were Dr. Muhannad Haj Hussein, Dean of the Faculty of Engineering, and Dr. Abdelhaleem Khader, Assistant Dean for Scientific Research and International Rankings. The conference served as a vital platform for academic exchange among more than 55 institutions from 26 countries, operating under the alliance’s vision of “Building a Better Home for All” and aiming to promote collaboration in the fields of sustainable architecture, technology, and innovation.
The university’s delegation took part actively in all sessions of the conference, including the Alliance Council Meeting, the Opening Ceremony, the Presidential Forum, and specialized forums on academia-industry collaboration and sustainable architecture. The delegation also joined high-level workshops, most notably an advanced session on academic publishing attended by leading publishing houses from China and the United Kingdom. These publishers expressed strong interest in future collaboration with An-Najah University in the areas of publishing and organizing academic events.
The participation also carried strong national significance, as the Palestinian flag was proudly raised alongside those of 17 other participating countries, symbolizing Palestine’s active academic presence on the global stage. An-Najah's achievements in research, innovation, and international rankings were highlighted throughout the conference and received notable recognition from fellow participants—especially with regard to the university’s sustainability and innovation initiatives.
The visit contributed to broadening An-Najah’s international academic network and opened new avenues for cooperation with several globally renowned universities and institutions. Many expressed interest in establishing strategic partnerships in areas such as joint research projects, international conferences, student and faculty exchanges, as well as collaboration in sustainable architecture and green technologies.
In light of this impactful participation and the promising opportunities it generated, the delegation emphasized the importance of building on this momentum by further strengthening An-Najah's role within the alliance. This can be achieved through a structured action plan aimed at developing long-term strategic partnerships in research, academic publishing, and knowledge exchange. Such engagement aligns with the university’s vision to deepen its international footprint and academic relations—particularly with institutions across East Asia—reflecting its firm commitment to global outreach and academic excellence.
