On Monday, June 25, 2018, an academic delegation from the Palestinian American Research Centre (PARC) headed by Ms. Penelope Mitchell, the Executive Director visited An-Najah National University to discuss possible means of mutual cooperation.


The delegation included a number of academics from different American universities specialized in anthropology, languages, Palestinian and Israeli studies, literature, environment, education, psychology, sociology, political science and African American studies.

The delegation was received by Dr. Nidal Dwaikat, Deputy President for Planning, Development and Quality Assurance, Ms. Alia Gilbrecht and Aya Jabri from the International Office and Mrs. Shatha Jararaa from PR Department.

Dr. Dwaikat welcomed the delegation and briefed them on An-Najah's history, academic programmes for MA and PhD levels, campuses and academic and research achievements. He also talked about the challenges that face higher education in Palestine.

The head of the delegation in turn thanked Dr. Dwaikat and An-Najah administration for their hospitality and commended the University's research and academic development.

The delegation then headed to the Old Campus library where they met with a number of An-Najah professors to explore academic cooperation opportunities, and discuss their similar research interests in various fields, such as women studies, water scarcity in Palestine, and the Israeli and U.S. regimes of political imprisonment.  They also discussed the possibility of establishing virtual students exchange programmes for various departments.

The delegation concluded their visit with a tour of the New Campus where they visited the Media Centre and learned more about its faculties and facilities.
