On Saturday, February 27th, 2016 the Centre for Excellence in Learning and Teaching (CELT) at An-Najah organized a workshop titled “Introduction to SharePoint” in cooperation with the Nablus Tech Meetups.


The workshop was part of the World Bank “IT Bridge” funded project which is directed by Dr. Abdulrazzaq Natsheh, Lecturer at the Faculty of Engineering and IT at An-Najah.

Dr. Natsheh thanked the event’s organizers for their contributions in developing the students’ professional skills and talked about the centre’s objectives and role in enhancing the educational process using modern technology.

The workshop trainer Mr. Mohammad Qalalweh introduced the participants to SharePoint; its definition and features. He said that it is used to create websites and can be used as a secure place to store, organize, share, and access information. He also said that SharePoint can be accessed from almost any device through web browsers, such as Internet Explorer, Chrome, or Firefox. Mr. Qalalweh finished by giving practical examples on how using the application.

SharePoint is a web application platform in the Microsoft Office server suite. Launched in 2001, SharePoint combines various functions which are traditionally separate applications: intranet, extranet, content management, document management, personal cloud, enterprise social networking, enterprise search, business intelligence, workflow management, web content management, and an enterprise application store.
