The Higher Council for Innovation and Excellence in cooperation with the Palestinian International Cooperation Agency (PICA) announces the launch of Busala Innovation Challenge which aims to provide a platform for Palestinian entrepreneurs and innovators to address global development challenges. It also seeks to offer various opportunities for growth, scalability and impact.


Participants must be Palestinians living in Palestine or abroad. Presented projects must offer a service or a product that facilitates the lives of distressed people matching the economic feasibility, be internationally applicable, and adopt one or more Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). Therefore, participating categories are divided into: projects initiation phase, prototype or modified prototype, and startups. 

Important dates and participation phases:

  • First phase: Holding the press conference to launch the challenge June 17, 2020
  • Second phase: Sending participation forms to [email protected], submission deadline: August 1, 2020
  • Third phase: Announcing the top 30 projects; 10 for each category not later than August 6, 2020
  • Fourth phase: Presentations before the Competition Committee, August 10, 2020
  • Fifth phase: Announcing the top three winners of each category, August 12, 2020

All participating projects will be awarded participating certificates, while the top three project for each category will be offered as follows:

First place        

  • Investing in the project
  • Cash grant
  • Team participation in the Agency's development missions abroad

Second place

  • Investing in the project
  • Cash grant

Third place

  • Investing in the project
  • Cash grant
