An-Najah National University held a press conference on Wednesday, December 3, 2025, attended by representatives of official bodies and local, Arab, and international media outlets, to celebrate its remarkable achievements at both the Arab and national levels. The University marked a historic moment in Arab higher education by winning two major awards at THE Awards Arab World 2025, announced during the Times Higher Education Global Ranking Conference held in Jordan in November 2025.

In his remarks, His Excellency Ghassan Daghlas, Governor of Nablus, conveyed President Mahmoud Abbas’s congratulations to An-Najah for this distinguished academic achievement. He expressed his pride in the University’s continuous accomplishments and praised the leadership—including the Board of Trustees and senior administration—for its steadfast commitment to supporting students, overcoming challenges, nurturing an outstanding academic environment, and strengthening the University’s vital role in serving the community.

Prof. Abdel Naser Zaid, President of An-Najah National University, thanked the Governor and all attendees for joining the celebration of achievements that positioned An-Najah as the only Arab university to win two awards this year. The first honor—Outstanding Student Support Award—recognized the TESI Initiative, launched in partnership with the Mediterranean Universities Union (UNIMED), which offers a comprehensive model for student support in response to the higher education crisis in Gaza. The initiative has since been adopted as an educational framework in regions affected by natural disasters, conflict, and war.

The second honor—Outstanding Environmental Leadership Award—was granted for the University’s PALGAP Project, an innovative model that integrates scientific research, education, community engagement, and policy development to address agricultural and environmental challenges in Palestine, particularly those linked to climate change and severe drought.
