An-Najah National University has attained the top position among Palestinian universities and ranks within the top 4% of Arab universities in the 2024 Times Higher Education World University Rankings for Sustainable Development Goals. Additionally, the university has secured a distinguished global standing in the 201-300 range, surpassing numerous international and Arab universities, marking a significant milestone in its esteemed academic journey.


An-Najah University achieved significant advancement compared to last year, amidst increased participation with 1,963 global universities, including 289 Arab institutions. The university successfully addressed all 17 UN Sustainable Development Goals, highlighting its commitment to impactful and sustainable societal outcomes.

The Times Higher Education (THE) rankings assess universities worldwide based on their contributions towards achieving the seventeen Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) established by the United Nations in 2015. These goals encompass a broad spectrum of social and economic development issues such as poverty, hunger, health, education, climate action, gender equality, water and sanitation, energy, environment, social justice, among others.

For eligibility in this ranking, universities are required to fulfill at least four of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), including Goal 17 (Partnerships for the Goals) as a compulsory criterion, in addition to excelling in three other SDGs.

An-Najah University has demonstrated notable achievement in advancing goals encompassing peace, justice, and robust institutional frameworks, promoting responsible consumption and production, ensuring accessible and clean energy solutions, and forging global partnerships for sustainable development.

Prof. Abdel Nasser Zaid, President of the university, expressed his satisfaction with this notable achievement, emphasizing An-Najah University's commitment to sustainable development through education, research, and strategic partnerships. He reiterated the university's dedication to advancing sustainable goals for a more promising future.
