An-Najah University Ranks First in Palestine, Arab World, Globally in the Spanish “Webometrics” Ranking – January 2026
In a new academic achievement affirming its leading status, An-Najah National University continues to top Palestinian universities, securing a prominent position in both the Arab World and globally in the Spanish “Webometrics” Ranking – First Edition (January 2026), reflecting its strong institutional and research presence in the international digital academic sphere.
This achievement reflects the University’s ongoing efforts to advance research and strengthen its digital and academic presence.
The “Webometrics” Ranking, issued by the Spanish National Research Council (CSIC) since 2004, is one of the largest global academic rankings, covering over 30,000 higher education institutions worldwide and published twice a year in January and July. It is based on indicators measuring digital presence, scientific openness, research excellence, and academic impact online.
On this occasion, Prof, Abdel Naser Zaid, President of the University, expressed pride in this achievement, highlighting that it reflects the University’s strategic vision to enhance research quality, expand its local and international impact, invest in digital transformation, support researchers, and strengthen scientific partnerships in line with global higher education standards.
An-Najah University affirms that its continued excellence in international rankings reflects its commitment to being an active academic and research hub, contributing to knowledge production and community service regionally and globally.
Prof. Waleed Sweileh, Dean of Scientific Research and Director of Global Academic Rankings, highlighted that the University’s latest achievements reflect its distinguished academic presence and leadership in research and innovation. He also noted that at the end of 2025, An-Najah received two prestigious THE Awards Arab World 2025, ranked first in Palestine, third in the Arab World, and 82nd globally in the Times Impact Rankings for Sustainable Development, and excelled in the ScholarGPS ranking.
