An-Najah Ranks First in Palestine for Academic Reputation, International Research Collaboration, and Research Productivity
According to the QS Arab Region University Rankings 2026, An-Najah National University has been ranked first among Palestinian universities in three key indicators: academic reputation, international research collaboration, and research productivity per faculty member.
The announcement was made during the QS Arab University Rankings Conference 2026, hosted by Sultan Qaboos University in the Sultanate of Oman on October 16, 2025. The event brought together university presidents, higher education leaders, and quality assurance and research officials from across the Arab world to discuss the latest developments in regional ranking methodologies and strategies to enhance competitiveness and innovation in Arab higher education.
An-Najah University was represented by Prof. Waleed Sweileh, Dean of Scientific Research and Director of the World Universities Academic Rankings Department, and Eng. Anan Aghbar, Office of the University President.
Despite the entry of 51 new universities into the ranking this year, An-Najah improved its position compared to the previous year, reflecting the university’s academic strength and growing research and institutional performance.
This recognition builds on An-Najah’s consistent record of excellence, as it continues to hold the top position in Palestine across several global university rankings, including U.S. News, the Times Higher Education World University Rankings, the Times Impact Rankings for Sustainability, the QS Sustainability Rankings, Webometrics, the GreenMetric World University Ranking, and the Association of Arab Universities Ranking, among others.
These achievements follow An-Najah’s continued upward trajectory in the global QS Rankings, announced four months ago, where the university also advanced its international standing.
An-Najah remains committed to strengthening its academic and research leadership through expanding international partnerships, supporting scientific publishing, and fostering a research-driven learning environment that aligns with global standards of higher education excellence.
Commenting on the results, Prof. Abdel Nasser Zeid, President of An-Najah National University, stated:
“This achievement is clear evidence of the effectiveness of the university’s strategic plans, which continue to enhance its position among Palestinian and international universities. It reflects our ongoing commitment to academic excellence, innovation, and meaningful research that contributes to societal development.”
