During the Times Higher Education Global Ranking Forum, An-Najah National University achieved a remarkable milestone in Arab higher education by securing two prestigious awards at the THE Awards Arab World 2025—making it the only university in the Arab region to win two titles in this year’s competition.
Dr. Abdulsalam Khayyat, Vice President for Academic Affairs, received the awards on behalf of the University, accompanied by a delegation including Prof. Waleed Sweileh, Dean of Scientific Research and Director of the Department of World Universities Academic Rankings; Eng. Fadia Hashayka from the Rankings Department; Ms. Summer Abu Mughli from the Partnerships and Global Initiatives Office; and Eng. Anan Al-Aghbar from the Office of the University President.
An-Najah was honored with the “Outstanding Support for Students” award and the “Outstanding Contribution to Environmental Leadership” award—an exceptional achievement that reinforces the university’s leadership. This recognition follows An-Najah’s success last year, when it won the International Strategy Award 2024.
The 2025 edition of the awards saw intense competition, with over 200 Arab universities submitting more than 700 projects across 12 categories. For the third consecutive year, An-Najah reached the shortlist in five categories, underscoring its consistent excellence and growing impact in the field of higher education.
According to the Times Higher Education report, Palestine topped the results of the 2025 awards, earning a total of three prizes—two awarded to An-Najah National University and one to Palestine Ahliya University—significantly strengthening Palestine’s international academic standing.
The President of An-Najah expressed immense pride in this achievement, noting that these awards represent international recognition of the university’s dedication to its students and community, as well as its ongoing efforts in global partnerships, innovation, scientific research, and sustainable development. He extended his gratitude to all faculties and departments whose competitive projects made this success possible.
This accomplishment sends a strong and clear message: An-Najah National University continues to solidify its position as a leading, forward-looking institution capable of competing regionally and globally through pioneering projects and impactful initiatives in education, research, and environmental and community development.
