 On Saturday 7 June, and under the patronage of President Mahmoud Abbas, An-Najah National University launched its 34th graduation ceremonies for the top students from each Faculty.

The ceremony included speeches by a welcoming speech to students by Mr. Sabeeh Masri, Head of An-Najah’s Board of Trustees, Professor Maher Natsheh, Acting President, Prime Minister Professor Rami Hamdallah, and the highest achieving student Ishteyaq Hijaz.

Mr. Masri, thanked Prof. Rami Hamdallah for his efforts in setting the foundations of the university and taking it to an international competitive level. He also wished him good luck in his new position as Prime Minister for the Unity Government.

He went on to address the graduating students saying: “you now have enough knowledge to be beneficial to your country, which awaits your hard, dedicated work to make it one of the best countries in the world”.

In his speech, Prime Minister Prof. Rami Hamdallah, delivered President Abbas’s best wishes and praised him for his devotion to serving the country and people of Palestine. He also thanked him for his great trust he has given to him by assigning him to be Prime Minister, hoping he will rise up and meet these expectations.

Prof. Hamdallah also commended the Palestinian prisoners in the Israeli prisons, who are on hunger strike for their freedom and saluted the souls of the Palestinian martyrs.

Professor Maher Natsheh, Acting President, made a speech in which he listed the university’s achievements in the year 2013, most notable of which is the complementary IEP report and the new academic programmes.

Later, student Ishteyaq Hijaz, top in the university with a GPA of 4/4, gave a speech in which she expressed her great joy and thanked her professors and her family.

The ceremony also included performances by the university choir led by Dr. Ghawi Ghawi.
