Given the importance of international medical education experience for our graduates, An-Najah Faculty of Medicine and Health Sciences continues to internationally expand by being approved by the California Medical Board.

For almost half a year, our Dean, Prof. Saleem Haj-Yahia, in conjugation with our graduate, Dr. Ahmed Awad, have been working with the California Medical Board to receive recognition, making our graduates eligible for post-graduate medical education in the State of California. Importantly, An-Najah is the first University in Palestine receive this approval.

Professor Saleem Haj Yahia, the Dean of Faculty of Medicine and Health Sciences, said “I am delighted about this achievement, this is a small but important step towards a wider international recognition which will allow our graduates easy access to other reputable institutions for further world-wide training.”

Graduated from An-Najah in 2012, and currently conducting neurosurgery research in the United States, Dr. Ahmed Awad explained the importance of this recognition. “Several states have adopted California's recognized Medical School List. Hence, this is an important recognition for our university graduates. I am glad I helped in getting this approval.”

Professor Haj-Yahia thanks the past dean, Dr. Imad Dweikat, who started the recognition process and acknowledges the efforts of Mrs. Rema' Massaeed for facilitating the process.
