On Wednesday 17 September the Faculty of Engineering and Information Technology welcomed two Italian experts in Agricultural Machinery Engineering. Dr. Antonia Tamborrino from the University of Bari and Professor Alessandro Leone from Foggia University were visiting An-Najah to discuss potential cooperation, following on from An-Najah’s Dr. Raed Koni’s recent visit to the University of Bari as part of the fellowship programme.

In the meeting Dr. Khaled Saheli, Dean of Engineering and Information Technology, discussed with the guests the potential for future collaboration as part of the EU’s Horizon 2020 programme.

They also talked about developing the olive sector, such as the mechanization of harvest and methods of pressing. In addition, they also explored the possibilities of scientific research related to the waste products from olive presses.

After the meeting the guests were accompanied on a tour around the university, where they commended the architectural and academic development of An-Najah and promised to do their best to support the University within their field.
