 On Friday13 June Dr. Muhannad Haj Hassan and Dr. Mo’tasem Bi’ba’a from the Department of Architectural Engineering at An-Najah, visited Bordeaux University’s National School of Architecture and Landscape(Ensap_Bx). Their visit was part of the Jerusalemite project, which promotes energy conservation in school building in Palestine.

During the visit the two An-Najah Professors met with their French counterparts, Dr. Catherine Semidor, Head of the Post Graduate studies within the Architecture Department and the GRECAU Laboratory for Buildings’ Environmental Studies and Dr. Allen Barlier, Buildings’ environmental relief researcher.

The team analysed together results collected from measurements taken from schools in the cities of Nablus and Jericho during the summer. The results were from a survey completed by students and teachers. This helped the team formulate the next steps for the project.

The team of architects alsoattended a workshop organized by the Faculty of Architecture at Bordeaux University on the development of sustainable buildings and the environmental aspect of modern buildings. Dr. Muhannad Haj Hassan gave a presentation on the aforementioned project and the anticipated objectives. The workshop also included the exchange of ideas and discussion with experts from the university, sustainable architecture experts in addition to a number of postgraduate students.

Dr. Haj Hassan and Dr. Bi’ba’a also met with Dr. Martin Chiniot, Dean of Architecture and Urban Planning at Bordeaux University, who welcomed the Palestinian guests and commended the notable cooperation between the two universities hoping for further cooperation in the future.
