President Prof. Rami Hamdallah received today HE. Mr. Jon Allen, Ambassador of Canada to Israel, HE. Mr. Graeme Mclntyre, Representative of Canada to the Palestinian National Authority, and Mrs. Sandra Choufani, Development Officer at the Representative Office of Canada to the Palestinian NationalAuthority in Ramallah.  They discussed means of enhancing academic cooperation between the University and institutions of higher education in Canada.

The meeting was attended by University’s President Assistant for International Relations, Mr. Bilal Salameh, Director of the University’s Community Service Center, and Ms. Yasmine Shahroor, Acting Director of the University’s Public Relations Department.
President Prof. Hamdallah gave an account on stages of development of the University’s community programs and how they contribute to develop the Palestinian community.  President Prof. Hamdallah also talked about the University’s programs to support marginlized and poor people.
The Canadian diplomats commended the advanced level of higher education at An-Najah National University as well as it commitment to develop the Palestinian society in various domains. They said that the Canadian government counties its efforts to support the Palestinian people
In 1999, the University founded the Community Service Center (CSC) in cooperation with McGill University in Canada. The CSC serves citizens of limited income in the local community in spheres of both social development and housing.  President Hamdallah said the idea behind the foundation of the CSC as a grassroots association has been to help the community solve problems and meet needs independently.
