On Tuesday 25 February Prof. Natsheh, the Acting President of An-Najah, received Mr Herve’ Macro, the French Consul General in Jerusalem and his delegation.

Prof. Natsheh welcomed the delegation and thanked them for visiting An-Najah and applauded the role of the French Consul General in strengthening the academic relationship between An-Najah and French universities. Prof. Natsheh gave an overview of the history of the University and talked about its development since.

Prof. Natsheh expressed his wish to continue the joint academic cooperation between France and Palestine. In turn, Mr Macro expressed his thanks for Prof. Natsheh’s introduction and promised to continue cooperation with the University in academic matters.

Dr Maha Atmeh, Head of the French Department talked about the status of the French language in the University and the vital support for French Consulate provide in fostering French at An-Najah. She evidenced the demand for French by students which has increased the past two years and the important role of the Francophone Research and Resource Centre.

Dr Rasha Khayyat, Head of Microbiology and Immunology in the Faculty of Medicine and Health Sciences, talked about the joint scholarships that aim at dispatching medical students to the University of Paris to pursue their education, and the Palestinian Alumni Society-AL RAFIC.

The meeting was attended by the Vice President for International Development and External Affairs;Vice President for Academic Affairs Prof. Sami Jaber; Vice President for Administrative Affairs Dr Mohammad Hanoon; Dean of Law Dr Akram Daoud; Head of French Department Dr Maha Atmeh; Dr Rasha Khayyat; and Mr Khaled Mufleh, Acting Director of Public Relations.
