An-Najah National University Hospital celebrated a significant milestone on Sunday, March 10, 2024, with the grand opening of its state-of-the-art day treatment department and hematology/oncology clinics. This achievement was made possible through the generous support and philanthropy of Mr. Saleh Rifaat Yaish. The inauguration ceremony was attended by esteemed dignitaries including His Excellency Prof. Rami Al-Hamdallah, Chairman of An-Najah National University Hospital’s Board of Trustees, Prof. Abdel Naser Zaid, President of the University, Mr. Ghassan Daghlas, Governor of Nablus Governorate, Dr. Sami Hajjawi, Mayor of Nablus, and Dr. Iyad Maqboul, Acting CEO of An-Najah National University Hospital, alongside esteemed members of the hospital's board of trustees, university faculty, and distinguished guests from the Yaish family and media representatives.


Dr. Iyad Maqboul, Acting CEO of An-Najah National University Hospital, extended a warm welcome to all attendees, expressing heartfelt gratitude for the invaluable support provided by Mr. Saleh Rifaat Yaish. Dr. Maqboul underscored the significance of this support in advancing healthcare services for the Palestinian people, particularly in the face of challenges hindering access to advanced medical treatment. He emphasized the hospital's commitment to excellence in healthcare delivery, striving to localize and enhance medical services, thereby eliminating the need for patients to seek treatment abroad.

Highlighting the hospital's dedication to serving the Palestinian community, Dr. Maqboul emphasized the pivotal role of solidarity among civil society institutions and continued philanthropic contributions from individuals like Mr. Yaish, whose generosity plays a vital role in advancing healthcare initiatives in Nablus and beyond.

Dr. Hossam Salama, Head of the Internal Medicine Department at An-Najah National University Hospital, lauded the hospital's track record in treating thousands of cancer patients over the years. Dr. Salama commended Mr. Yaish for his prompt response in supporting the development of the day treatment department, which now boasts a capacity to accommodate approximately 150 treatment sessions per day. With 33 treatment chairs for adults and children, equipped to international standards, along with dedicated clinics and a highly-trained medical staff, the department is poised to deliver exceptional care to patients.

Mr. Saleh Rifaat Yaish expressed profound joy in making this donation, reaffirming his unwavering commitment to meeting the healthcare needs of the Palestinian people and supporting humanitarian endeavors aimed at enhancing community development. He commended the dedication of the hospital's medical teams and healthcare workers, expressing pride in An-Najah National University Hospital's status as Palestine's premier educational and healthcare institution.

The newly inaugurated department features a specialized medical team equipped with the latest technologies and treatment modalities to efficiently diagnose and treat various types of tumors and blood diseases. Offering comprehensive services including early diagnosis, precise surgery, treatment, and patient follow-up, the department stands as a beacon of hope for those battling cancer and blood disorders in the region.
