The Community Pharmacy Master's program aims at producing well trained graduates who are capable of playing a critical role in community pharmacies in terms of providing high quality pharmaceutical care services.

This program will better equip its graduates with the fundamental knowledge and skills to enhance their career opportunities as community pharmacists in the field of community pharmacy practice in Palestine and abroad. This program is just perfect for those pharmacists looking to create an impact on their professional practice and take the next step in their careers.

The future graduates of this program will be community pharmacists who are considered to be the most accessible health professional to the public, as they are available to provide personalized advice to patients with no need to a prescription from their doctor about their health and medicine.

The many tasks of community pharmacists may include checking for drug interactions; making sure that the medications are appropriate for the patient considering health factors and other medications, helping patients to understand their health and medicines and giving appropriate advice as they play an important role in the continued healthcare and checkups for patients. Additionally, they are responsible for checking the prescription from the doctor and preparing the medication for the patient.

 

Teaching and Learning

The students will be continuously engaged in-class presentations, open group discussions and research. They are required to conduct scientific research on different topics of community pharmacy fields to address problems regarding the subject, and organize workshops and seminars to discuss various issues.

The program adopts teaching and learning methods which include:

  1. Interactive lecturing techniques
  2. Deductive approaches
  3. Using multimedia and technologies such as the Internet, and other audio-visual aids to present reports, assignments, research studies and discuss samples of case studies
 

Coursework and Assessment

Students are to be evaluated based on their participation and attendance as well as through theoretical and practical exams, periodical reports, seminars and research papers over the academic semester.
