Guidelines for Publishing: Humanities

An-Najah University Journal for Research – B (Humanities) is a peer reviewed journal holding ISSN 1727-8449. The journal welcomes original research papers, reviews, letters to the editor and short communications in Humanities. Contributions in English and Arabic languages are accepted for submission provided that they conform to the universally accepted rules of scientific research.

Submission of manuscripts:

Manuscripts, one original and three copies, accompanied by a compact disk (CD), should be submitted to the Deanship of Scientific Research. By submitting a manuscript for publication in An-Najah University Journal for Research – A, the authors imply that it has not been published previously nor has been simultaneously submitted or published elsewhere and that authors have obtained the necessary authority for publication. Submission of manuscripts also imply that the authors agree that the copyright for their article is transferred to the publisher, if and when the article is accepted for publication. The copyright covers the exclusive rights to reproduce and distribute the article by all means.  This transfer will ensure the widest possible dissemination of information.

Preparation of manuscripts:

Manuscripts must be typewritten on A4 paper on one side of the sheet with double line spacing and wide margins (at least one inch on all four sides).  The sheets must be numbered on the upper right corner.

Structure

Authors should adhere to the following order of presentation: Article title, Author(s), Affiliation(s), Abstract (in English and in Arabic), Main text (Introduction; Experimental procedures or Theory or Modeling; Results; Discussion; Conclusion), Acknowledgements, Appendices, References, Figure captions, Tables. Major titles are typed in bold (Font 16) and the rest of the material is typewritten in Font 14. The overall length of the article must not exceed  35 printed pages. In case of using a research instrument, a questionnaire for example, the contributor is expected to include it in an appendix.

Corresponding author

The name, telephone and fax numbers and the e-mail address of the corresponding author should be given on the first page of the manuscript.

Keywords
Supply up to five keywords of your own choice that describe the content of your article in more detail.

After acceptance:

Authors will receive proofs, which they are requested to correct and return as soon as possible. At the time of proofreading, only printer’s errors may be corrected; no changes in, or addition to, the edited manuscripts will be accepted.

Author benefits:

Publishing in An-Najah University Journal for Research – B (Humanities)  is free.  The corresponding author, at no cost, will be provided with a PDF file of the article and 10 paper offprints.

Documentation:

a. In-text

Contributors are requested to follow the American Psychological Association (APA) style.

  • In the case of Books, brief citation will be made normally by giving the author's surname, the year of publication, and page number(s) where relevant, for example,
    • one author:  (Jones 1967, p. 107);
    • two authors:  (Wilmore and Costile 1994, p. 22);
    • more than three authors (Adams et al 2002, p.85).
  • In the case of journal articles, do the same.
  • In the case of a web site, give address of site, title of article, year of publication: http://www.tit.net/, “Thinking and Training”, 2004.

P.S. Researchers in the fields of Arabic Language, history, Islamic studies, and Law may footnote their references.

b. Out-of-text (Reference list)

In documentation of books, journal articles and unpublished dissertations, authors are expected to follow the APA style.

  • Book:
