About PR

The PR Department has a pivotal role within the University in that it is the first port of call for contacts and visitors; as such it takes the main role of implementing and announcing to the outside world the number of various activities developed by the University’s faculties and centres.  A look at the An-Najah website will give an indication of the Department's efforts.  A major part of its work is the preparation of University publications, event management, conferences and cultural displays.  

The Public Relations Department has the overall responsibility of projecting a positive image of the University to the public domain. It also aims to preserve and maintain a respectable reputation for the University while providing information for prospective students, professors and the public in general. It also organizes visits and accompanies guests on campus.

Objectives

The Public Relations Department has a very important role within the University as it acts as a mediator between it and the public. The role of the department can be summarized by the following points:

  • Building a strong and favorable reputation for the University.
  • Enhancing students' affiliation with and pride towards their University.
  • Spreading support and trust for the University among the public.
  • Organizing media coverage and publicity for specific University topics.
  • Effective handling of a number of situations that influence the public.
  • Conveying to the University the public's concerns, expectations and opinions in order for the University implement them in their core decision making.
  • Creating and increasing awareness of the University's ongoing events, activities and facilities.

In order to achieve the previously mentioned goals, the Department focuses on communication and influencing the community in the following ways:

  • Media such as newspapers, announcements, advertisements and disseminating information about upcoming events on campus.
  • Cooperation with organizations and associations for funding and event sponsoring
  • Through the Palestinian Authority
  • ‎Informing and establishing relations in Nablus and the surrounding northern area
  • Alumni support
  • Influential people in the community
  • Benevolent societies’ support and sponsoring of activities and cooperation.
  • Student's and staff's families for support and propagation.
  • Foreign education establishments for exchange and cooperation for bilateral programs.

Tasks

The following are just some of the activities that the Public Relations Department carries out:

  • An-Najah Newsletter: Interviews, reports, feature articles, along with general information.
  • Designing and publishing leaflets and booklets about the University.
  • Designing and drafting information for the website
  • Point of contact for e-mails coming in and out of the University
  • Publishing books, scientific research, and the yearbook.

The PR Units
Media Unit

The PR Department produces daily news reports that are then published in local newspapers and the electronic sites of the University and those of other organizations and institutes.

Publications Unit

The PR Department publishes the necessary documents and brochures for the university in both English and Arabic. Some of the English publications include the Quarterly Newsletter, Zajel Newsletter, Academic Catalog, Students Guide Book, An-Najah Brochure, Focus on An-Najah, and the Graduates Book.

Events Management

The PR Department organizes events, activities, workshops, lectures, visits and programs for the university’s faculties and centers in addition to the local community and non-governmental organizations.

Zajel Youth Exchange Program

Zajel Youth Exchange Program provides foreign youth and An-Najah National University students a venue to create a type of symbiotic relationship that will surpass what other exchange programs can offer.
