Welcome to An-Najah National University’s website

An-Najah National University appreciates your interest in our students and our university community. This page provides more information about An-Najah’s academic disciplines, scientific research, student curricular and extracurricular activities, and university cultural aims.

As Palestine’s largest university, An-Najah currently educates close to 20,000 students on four campuses. An-Najah’s highly qualified academic and administrative staff ensures the continued advancement of the university.

The University recently received several significant recognitions and rankings. It ranked first among Palestinian universities, sixth among Arab universities, and in the top 4% of universities evaluated worldwide, according to webometrics measures and international classifications of the Webometrics website. Additionally, An-Najah was awarded the “Committed to Excellence C2E” Certificate from the European Foundation for Quality Management, making it the first Palestinian university to successfully implement the EFQM’s Excellence Model.

An-Najah was also the first Palestinian University to participate in the European University Association’s (EUA) “Institutional Evaluation Program” (IEP), a program which provides universities with an official academic evaluation. An-Najah received special recognition in the EUA’s final evaluation for its unique role in community service, community cohesion, and strategic planning. On the national level, An-Najah was also recognized for its contribution to community service, receiving the Yasser Arafat Foundation's 2013 “Award for Achievement” and the “Palestine International Award for Excellence and Creativity 2013”

With a large student body, drawn from across Palestine, An-Najah provides a vibrant learning atmosphere for this generation of Palestine’s students. Students study at one of the University’s four campuses: the Old Campus, the New Campus, the Hisham Hijjawi College of Technology, and the Faculty of Agriculture and Veterinary Medicine in Tulkarem. Currently, the University hosts sixteen academic faculties, with seventy-four bachelor programs and forty-five post-graduate programs. There are also two courses of doctoral study available, a Phd in Physics and a Phd in Chemistry. An-Najah is also home to six specialized scientific centers.

An-Najah constantly strives to better its academic offerings and to improve its students’ educational experience. The University recently conducted a study of local and regional market needs and educational inputs and outputs. Based on the study results, during the last several months, An-Najah restructured several of its faculties in order to increase productivity and effectiveness and to allow for beneficial exchange across departments and majors. Similarly, An-Najah’s scientific centers have been grouped to ensure that each center can draw from beneficial knowledge and expertise in related fields. An-Najah is also currently working on enhancing e-learning opportunities as part of its efforts in continued academic program development.

An-Najah has a strong commitment to scientific research and publication. The University aims to encourage the dissemination of knowledge as well as faculty and student participation in research through several initiatives. The Deanship of Scientific Research publishes three journals: the An-Najah University Journal for Research, a journal in humanities and applied sciences, and a journal for medicine and health sciences. An-Najah also offers two annual research awards: an award for Palestinian and Arab researchers for the best research in humanities and natural sciences and the An-Najah Award for research.

Beyond its focus on educational and academic excellence, An-Najah seeks to serve the local community through a number of channels. The University conducts studies, holds conferences and seminars, and cooperates with Palestinian National Authority institutions as well as non-governmental institutions focused on social and economic issues.

The University has a distinguished network of relationships with other universities and academic institutions -- locally, regionally, and internationally. An-Najah awards a number of scholarships annually in an effort to promote advanced scientific qualifications in certain specializations which benefit both Palestinian society and the University community.
