The American Institute of Architecture Students (AIAS) at An-Najah University has achieved an extraordinary milestone by securing the title of the world's best AIAS branch out of a global network of 270 branches. This historic victory marks the first instance of a student branch outside the United States receiving this prestigious accolade since the inception of the AIAS student branch over six decades ago.


An-Najah National University's AIAS branch earned this distinguished recognition following a meticulous assessment of the accomplishments and endeavors of all 270 branches within the parent institute. This rigorous evaluation encompassed the extent of branch engagement and integration within the parent institute's activities throughout the academic year and their dedication to providing enriching events and activities for students and members. Moreover, it scrutinized the institute's collaboration with the university and the local community.

Eng. Ayman Al-Bitar, former president of An-Najah National University's AIAS branch, elaborated on the selection process, highlighting the comprehensive scrutiny each branch underwent. The evaluation encompassed a thorough review of detailed reports submitted by each branch, outlining their initiatives and achievements throughout the year. These reports formed the basis of assessment, supplemented by recommendations from department heads, faculty deans, and supervisors, affirming the academic community's perspective on each branch's performance.

Al-Bitar emphasized the significance of this achievement during his administration at An-Najah University, expressing his profound pride in this remarkable accomplishment. He underscored the global recognition of the quality of work demonstrated by An-Najah University's AIAS branch, reflecting the culmination of dedicated efforts from the administrative body during the 2021-2022 term. Al-Bitar urged the current and forthcoming administrations to sustain this distinction and continuously elevate the institute's activities.

Eng. Abdullah Shaikha, Vice-Chairman of the Administrative Board of An-Najah National University's AIAS branch, elucidated the nature of the competition and its framework. The parent institute annually presents awards across various categories on its website, including the esteemed Honor Award for the best student branch globally. Submissions are subject to stringent requirements and criteria, with winners announced and celebrated at the annual international conference in Washington, D.C., the United States' capital. The American Institute of Architecture Students comprises 270 branches across diverse universities worldwide.

Eng. Majd Odeh, the current President of An-Najah National University's AIAS branch, expressed immense pride in securing the award after revitalizing the AIAS branch at An-Najah for four years. The announcement was made at the Grassroots conference in Washington, attended by a delegation of present and past institute members. The conference featured workshops, meetings, architectural tours, and honorary award presentations, with An-Najah National University's branch earning the prestigious recognition for the best branch globally.

Mr. Iyad Al-Aqra, Director of Student Affairs at An-Najah National University, extended heartfelt congratulations to AIAS An-Najah Branch for this international achievement. He lauded the efforts of past and current administrations for crafting targeted programs, activities, and events that fostered teamwork and facilitated academic and practical growth.

Dr. Asaad Al-Arandi, An-Najah National University's AIAS branch's supervisor in the Faculty of Engineering and Information Technology at An-Najah National University, underscored the achievement's significance as evidence of the faculty and university's commitment to nurturing students' capabilities. The accomplishment showcases An-Najah students' aptitude to excel on the global stage, participating in international events and clinching prestigious titles across various domains.

The distinguished delegation representing the institute at the conference included Ayman Al-Bitar, the former president; Majd Odeh, the current president; Abdullah Sheikha, the current vice president; Alia Danbek, the current secretary; Yahya Abu Hijleh, the former public relations officer; and Nour Al-Abaa, a volunteer on the current Finance Committee.
