Between the 15th and 20th of January, Dr. Shedhe Joudeh, Director of the Chemical, Biological and Drugs Analysis Center (CBDA) at An-Najah University, participated in the 8th meeting on the carbon footprint standard to prepare for the pre-final form of the International Standard ISO-14067.

Dr. Joudeh mentioned that this standard aims to study the gases emitted from agriculture and industry to the environment and their effects on the atmosphere. This standard will be internationally adopted in March 2012; it will be applied globally and it will also be useful to the exporting companies around the world.

He added that in that meeting more than 800 proposals were studied to be included in the final form of the standard with the collaboration of more than 80 countries around the world. Palestine participated with more than 10 points of the standard which included the obstacles that affect exportation, especially the difficult situations in Palestine.

He also noted that the CBDA will be the licensed center locally and internationally in issuing reports and certifications for the Palestinian companies in cooperation with Palestine Standards Institutions regarding this standard.
