An-Najah National University in conjunction with AMIDEAST is excited to host the 2023 TESOL Palestine Conference.   The purpose of this conference is to bring together Palestinian English language teachers for the opportunity to exchange ideas and best practices within a collaborative atmosphere that promotes professional growth and development. We welcome English language teachers from K-12, in higher education, or in continuous adult education.

Date: Sunday, May 28, 2023

Time: 09:00-03:30

Location: Faculty of Law Hall, New Campus, An-Najah National University.

The deadline for proposals is May 8th; proposals will require the following:

Session Title: 10 word limit. Use Title Case.

Abstract: 50 word limit.

Session Description: 300 word limit. Full description of session for reviewers including session structure and activities if applicable. This will not appear in the conference program. 

Session Type: interactive workshop, panel discussion, a conference presentation

Interactive Workshop (45 mins)

Workshops are action-oriented, hands-on sessions intended to train and engage participants in practice. These sessions could take the form of a demonstration, or a participatory how-to-session.  Workshop proposals must specify the format and describe the intended content, goals of the session, and hands-on components of the session

Presentation (45 mins)

These sessions should consist of a maximum of 30 minutes for the presentation and 10-15 minutes for discussion. Presentation proposals should include a full description of what will be presented

Lightening Talks (10 min)

These short, fast-paced presentations provide an opportunity to spark new ideas, conversations, and collaborations across topics and disciplines. Case studies and innovations in practice are often a great fit for this format.

Speaker Biographies: 100 word limit per presenter. This should include the presenter's first name and family name, institution or affiliation, email address and biography. 

Content Area of Session: Submitted proposals should fit within one of the categories listed below.

  • Translingual Approaches in the English Classroom

  • English for Specific Purposes/English for Academic Purposes

  • Incorporating Drama in the TESOL classroom 

  • Culture and Intercultural Communication 

  • Media Literacy 

  • Technology Integration in Face-to-Face Instruction

  • Content and Language-Integrated Learning (CLIL)

  • Assessment  and Evaluation 

  • Issues in TESOL within the Settler Colonialism Context 

  • Research in ELT/applied linguistics

  • Innovative Approaches to Teaching Writing

  • Innovative Approaches to Teaching Listening, Speaking, and Pronunciation

  • Innovative Approaches to Teaching Reading

  • Communicative Language Teaching

  • Project-Based Learning

  • International Virtual Exchange (IVE/COIL) for Intercultural Language Learning

Proposals will be evaluated based on:

  1. The overall quality of the proposal

  2. Clarity of the proposal and the ideas presented 

  3. Relevance to the conference themes 

  4. Innovation and originality of the ideas presented
