Prof. Maher Natsheh, An-Najah President, welcomed an Austrian delegation that included Mr. Mag. Günther Schabhüttl from Austrian Federal Economic Chamber and Undine Zach-Palvelli, Commercial Attaché of the Austrian Embassy, to congratulate the Energy Research Center at An-Najah University for winning the Energy Globe National Award 2019.

The Center won the Award for its "Hybrid PV power plant for An-Najah Hospital" project.


 

During the meeting, Prof. Natsheh briefed the delegation about An-Najah's achievements, academic programs, international projects, collaboration programs, and its policies to invest in human resources as well as the advanced positions An-Najah holds in world rankings.

Dr. Imad Ibrik, Director of Scientific Centers, mentioned that the Center aims to deliver proper mechanisms for all stakeholders in the energy and sustainable development field by providing energy solutions thus working towards greater adaptation and penetration of RETs (Renewable Energy Technologies) and efficient use of energy in Palestine. He also talked about the challenges that face the Center while implementing different projects.

Mr. Schabhüttl was clearly impressed with the University's achievements despite the difficulties it faces and talked about possible future collaboration between An-Najah and Austrian universities. Then he handed the University President the Award certificate signed by Energy Globe Jury Chairperson Maneka Gandhi and Energy Globe initiator Mr. Wolfgang Neumann.

The National Energy Globe Awards distinguish best project submissions from a country. 187 countries have participated. The Energy Globe Award is today’s most honorable environmental award. It is awarded annually to projects focusing on energy efficiency, renewable energies and the conservation of resources.
