Professor Saleem Haj Yahia; First Palestinian Full Professor with a Chair
Professor Saleem Haj Yahia, CEO and Dean Emeritus at An-Najah National University Hospital was promoted to a Full Professor (with a Chair) by the University of Bristol in the U.K.
With this title, Prof. Yahia is the first non-British heart surgeon and the first Palestinian to be a Chair.
Through this achievement, Prof. Yahia aspires to upgrade An-Najah Hospital’s global index and create a network to develop scientific research and train doctors.
He also aspires to obtain research scholarships to continue his 20 year journey in training Palestinian doctors.
It is worth mentioning that Prof. Yahia is also Honorary Consultant Cardiac and Transplant Surgeon at Golden Jubilee National Hospital, UK; International Proctor for Heart & Lung Transplant & Artificial Heart & LVAD Implant Surgery; Honorary Clinical Associate Professor at Institute of Cardiovascular and Medical Sciences of University of Glasgow and Professor in Cardiothoracic Surgery at Bristol University, U.K.
