A scientific center is the place for research and the implementation of projects; it bridges the relationship between the University and the Community. The University, represented by its Board of Trustees and its Administration, continues its efforts to establish scientific centers that help with sustainable development and enrich the infrastructure of the Palestinian Community.

Since 1994, the Institute for Water and Environmental Studies was founded; more centers were established afterwards, such as the Urban and Regional center and the Community Service Center. There were six centers by 2002, but more centers were established on the behest of the Centers Administration: the Continuing Education Center , Opinion Polls and Survey Studies and the Construction Transportation Research Center. Now there are fourteen scientific centers in total.

In 2006 the Poison Control and Drug Information Center was established, under the patronage of the Palestinian Development and Investment Company (PADICO): the only center that operates in this field in the West Bank . The Board of Trustees agreed to start the preparations for the establishment of the Strategic Studies Center: a center vital in national, regional and international spheres.

The Centers Administration presented its three- and five-year plans to achieve the aims set for the Palestinian Community to its counseling boards.

The University Administration represented by its President and its Board of Trustees did their utmost to support the scientific centers, which enable the University to be what it is. The scientific centers carried out many strategic projects, such as planning for Ramallah, Bitonia and Albeireh, in cooperation with many fellow consultant and experts.

I would like to thank the Chairperson of the Board of Trustees and its members as well as the University Administration and its President. I would also like to thank my fellows the coordinators of the scientific centers, its experts and consultant of the University who dedicated their time and efforts to the centers that will help our Community to achieve their goals in streamlining for sustainable development.
