Thinking of spending your Sabbatical in the Middle East?
An-Najah National University is one of Palestine’s leaders in higher education and scientific research and its strategic location in the northern region of the West Bank makes it a prime choice for those seeking a unique place to spend their sabbatical. If you have an interest in Palestine and the role that the university plays in the daily lives of those who live here, or if you are an academic who would like to come to the Middle East to conduct research or teach overseas, or even if you are just looking to explore a different culture, we encourage you to consider spending your sabbatical here with us at An-Najah.
An-Najah recognizes that knowledge is acquired and advanced through research, synthesis, practice and teaching. These are aspects that we take into account on a daily basis and that we implement into our greater mission of challenging the present to shape the future. As such, we believe that spending a sabbatical at our university will allow one to delve into greater research and publication, teaching improvement, intensive public service, and integration and interpretation of existing knowledge into a larger, international framework.
Intercultural dialogue and cross-cultural understanding have always made up a large portion of An-Najah’s academic and scientific endeavors. We believe that the only way one can truly become aware and come to an understanding of other cultures and societies is to interact with them. Our university is located in the historical city of Nablus, one of the most bustling cultural hubs in Palestine. Visiting this particular part of the Middle East will allow one to experience a culture from a social, political, and historical stand point that is unique not only to this region, but to the world.
There are a number of options for those who are interested in visiting An-Najah. We offer volunteer placements, study visits, or intensive Arabic courses for short-term visitors and for long-term visitors we offer teaching or administrative opportunities in addition to personalized research projects. In addition, we are happy to design for you a unique program that best fits what you are looking to achieve during your time here.
